Anne Frank tour Amsterdam: what it is and what it is not

Searching for an Anne Frank tour in Amsterdam leads to two different things. One is the museum visit, which has its own timed ticket. The other is a guided walk outside the museum that tells the history of the Jewish quarter, its monuments and the persecution of Amsterdam's Jews. A walking tour does not include entry to the Anne Frank House. Commercial tours give no access to the house.

That keeps the choice simple. Book the museum ticket on its own, see Anne Frank House tickets, and treat a tour as a way to understand the city around it. Many life stories of Amsterdam's Jews have nothing to do with Anne Frank, and a good tour does not reduce them to her story.

For most visitors the best order is: museum ticket first, then a walking tour on another day or at another time of day. Groups of 10 or more people should book the group walk.

The Jewish Amsterdam walk

The Jewish Cultural Quarter (Joods Cultureel Kwartier) offers a guided walk called Jewish Amsterdam. It starts at the Jewish Museum, Nieuwe Amstelstraat 1. The standard version takes 1 hour, the long version 1.5 hours. The walk covers the history of the old Jewish quarter and how it connects to the monuments you pass.

This is a group offer. The price is โ‚ฌ100 per guide in 2026, with one guide for every 15 people and a maximum of 60 people. A group reservation is required, so it does not suit someone who wants to join a walk tomorrow as a single traveler. Guides are available in Dutch, English, German, French, Hebrew and Spanish. Groups of 10 or more who want to enter the quarter's buildings are asked to book as a group, which costs nothing extra.

If you travel alone or as a couple, read the description of each tour above. Check the start point, the language and what the price covers before you pay, and check the current timetable.
